founded the day ," I have forced the sun to paint pictures for me " as she had said. you can find a dose of light in an unimagined new environment. a dose of light thrives on conflicts. we use imagery to pose questions instead of answering simplistic ones in a bland and sometimes patronizing way. what we do is often ' wordless '.

from the urban forests of Singapore we use photography / installation/ visuals and a bit of punch into our work for the people. over the past year, we have been meddling with visual art installations and social documentaries for conservational societies/networks.

our most recent work was the online biography of Wu Xiao Kang which attracted world-wide attention. much discourse was formed over his works and in the midst of it, we welcome Damien Hong, Pye Suang Le, Craige Lumb, Mr Kamera.O, YLN Yuleso in 2007. all home-grown photographers who are based internationally. they, like us, was inspired by the works of Xiao Kang and decided to join our collective to promote and improve the contemporary photographic scene of Singapore.

a dose of light aims to promote/improve and inspire contemporary photographic practice in Singapore and bring the best visual pieces into a global agenda. this year would be an exciting one for a dose of light as we are casting huge nets all over the world with homegrown photographers base in china to as far as london. we believe good art creates discourse. our work-ed depends largely on the prejudice of the viewers and the media.

here at a dose of light, we believe that good work must be seen and talked about.

if you felt that your works didn't had a place in Singapore till now, please drop us a mail.

If you are thriving on conflict like we always do and wish to address them through effective and selective photography, need contextual direction, obsessed with the sensationalise and provocative, u roar! we do not believe you need 10000 words to justify your image, if so, you should be a writer. If your images are provocative enough, the writers will flock to you.

the -isms of art in photography are really art historian jargon that 'a dose of light' feels are just convienient pigeon holes for trends and counter-trends. After all, our members are individualists who don't fit neatly into groups. we are constantly refusing to be catogarized.

so what images do we produce?

its not something the verbal language can describe but rather, a visual languange highly coded and so complex that it strikes you down

cheers,

the roaring tigers from a dose of light.
